These instructions will assist you in setting up “RSS Feed” modules to spaces which you wish to be notified when the owners publish new blobs, photos, or changes to their lists. Because each module will only notify you of updates to one site and that they take up a good bit of real-estate within yer space, I would suggest that you only use them for people not on your messenger list, and as well for people who are rather sporadic in there postings. You can have as many RSS Feed modules as you wish or such as Spaces limitations will allow.
The RSS feed option will only work if the site you are wanting to be notified of has the "Syndication" box checked under the “Space Settings” tab.
Ø On your Space's opening page, click on “Customize”
Ø Under Customize click on “Add Modules”
Ø Scroll through drop down and click on Feed > “Add”
Ø The Feed module should appear in the top left corner of your Space. Move it to where you would like it (again .. I suggest you keep it at the bottom of your space) and click on “Save” at the top of your space in yellow tools banner.
Ø In your new Feed module, click on “Edit”
Ø In the “Name of feed” field, Insert the name of the Space you wish to be notified of.
Ø In the field marked “Feed URL”, enter the URL of the space you wish to be notified of and add the code /feed.rss# on the end ... eg: http://archies-bunker.spaces.live.com/feed.rss#
Ø Should you wish RSS feed on just the blobs, add /blog/feed.rss# to end of URL ... eg: http://archies-bunker.spaces.live.com/blog/feed.rss#
Ø In the “Number of items to show” field, I suggest “one” or at the most “two”, as the higher the number, the larger the RSS module will be. All about personal choice, 'n application I spose.
please note, I have shown my URL in the example above
using an old Spaces URL format ...
Ø Click on “Save” and viola … Sit back and wait to be notified.
Ø You can change the space for which you wish to be notified in any “RSS Feed” module by simply clicking on “Edit”, --- Changing the "Name of feed" title, --- Changing the “URL” with the /feed.rss# at the end, --- and clicking on “Save”.
If you would like to have a look at what the finished result will look like, you can scroll down to the bottom of my home page and have a look as I’ve a couple ‘a “RSS Feed” modules near to the bottom of my Space.
Good luck and will catch ya’s all later.
